Question

Hi,

I've recently purchased a Delta S-Series.

I've been looking for a while.  I live in Cornwall and there seem to be very few Deltas down in the South-West.

I'd almost given up and this one popped up at an auction in Bruntingthorpe.  It was the only S-Series I'd seen for sale so I went for it.

I'm into Italian cars, I've got a couple of Alfas and a Lancia MonteCarlo so this one will be given the full Lancia treatment soon.

Cheers

Andrew

Welcome to the little Italy section Andrew! There's a few of us that have/had a selection of Alfa's, Lancia's and the odd Fiat...

Nearly bought a MonteCarlo myself a few years back, and missed out by a shill bidder! Now they're getting expensive, so deffo one to hold onto!

That's a nice specc'd car being the Momo S, and I'm assuming that went through Manheim then, being from Bruntingthorpe? Was there many bids against you, or was it an easy win?

Looks well with the darkened wheels against the white. I notice from the MOT history in 2017 it's had a knock on the O/S/F bumper which also caused the wheel arch liner to become loose?

Thanks.

Yes, it was a Manheim auction.  Not much interest in it, the hammer dropped at £2400.

Yes, I had noticed that on the MOT history but it has all been repaired before I got it. The bodywork is excellent, just a couple of small parking dents and one or two small stonechips at the front. The wheels could do with a refurb and I'll probably do that when its time to change the tyres.

Time to find the Lancia parts now.  Unfortunately the Momo S grill seems to be rather expensive compared to the standard one.  I found one on Ebay for £180 but they are out of stock, others are around the £300 mark delivered!!!

Thank you all.

The engine is the 1.6 Diesel manual.  As far as can tell this was the only engine available on the Momo S.

Booked in for a new timing belt and oil pump next week at my local Italian car specialist and then the rebadging can begin.

That's a great looking car Andrew, I've just come back to a Delta after losing my first one in France in 2017. I notice yours has the 2.0 twin tailpipe exhaust, I wanted that for my 1.6 too! Enjoy the car it's a great drive! My Lancia grille has arrived from Italy, just need a dry day to fit it!

Ciao

Actually, the twin tail pipe is something I'd like for mine too. My back box is fine right now but looks a bit crusty.

vincey / TJB - there is a thread somewhere on here (I can find it later if needed) where I replaced the back-box on my 1.4 MA. I used a brand new one that was advertised for a Bravo. It was an exact and identical fit - for £30 new!

I am sure if you are able to look at the T-Jet Sport back system closely you will find its identical too - I cannot guarantee I will add as a caveat - but the 1.4 MA one was.............

I wonder if there's any difference between a petrol and diesel rear exhaust box?

I don't think there is. A number of suppliers list back boxes as fitting all engine variants, petrol and diesel. I've seen a nice twin outlet one that I like the look of.

Anyone ever heard pf Pro Master exhausts? a few reviews from Alfa owners who seem quite pleased with them.

My back box has a slight rusting, so It would be interesting to know how that fits, and if the sound is improved......

I'll keep everyone posted. It's a good job they're double-skinned. Mine is actually peeling apart and the inner skin is corroded too!

The back box arrived yesterday. Having unboxed it looks to be pretty good quality. Nice stainless steel exhaust tips and well finished. My only gripe is that the cut ends of the steel pipe inside the stainless tips have been left as bare metal. Nothing a quick blow over with some VHT paint won't solve.

The exhaust is now on; so a few pics.

Nello is right they are bloomin' heavy. The old one put up a bit of a fight but eventually came off quite cleanly. The new one went on with no issues, other than one of the hangers seemed to have been bent in transit, but it straightened out OK.

I've only driven about 10 miles since fitting and as far as the sound goes, it really isn't that different; perhaps a bit deeper note but no nasty booming, which was my big concern. I've also ordered a new rear rubber hanger, as mine is looking pretty tired.
