Ready For My First Mod..

Question

Hey guys, my '11 Delta is now in it's ready state for the first mod to be considered.

These last few days I've had some time to enjoy the back roads and push the rev counter a bit. I've come to the conclusion that current power and torque levels are fine, turbo lag could be improved (kicks in around 2700-2800) and suspension + body roll doesn't bother me too much.

What i think I want to invest in is a new exhaust kit, Full system front to back with a bit more rumble and noise. Does anyone know of any UK or mainland EU companies that have anything available for our beautiful Italian girlfriends?

I have considered a custom stainless steel exhaust, but the regulations here in Israel greatly frown upon that. A pre-fab kit that can simply be bolted on would certainly be less of a headache.

Has anyone here done aftermarket exhausts? Is there much of a market available? Are there bits and pieces that can be borrowed from other Fiat/Alfa models?

Looking forward to your thoughts and comments :)

Hi JH - glad you are still enjoying the car. Not familiar with a bespoke Performance exhaust myself - the Delta 3 was not really a Delta Mk.1 so don't think there was ever any demand. Certainly not the numbers of cars here in the UK to warrant selling one. As per other threads though - I replaced my Back-box with one from a Fiat Bravo - they are the indentical part so you may find a sports silencer from one of those if you had the Bravo there? Let us know how you get on.............

I mean the rear box after the Cat with the tailpipes. Yes Sports Silencer is a general reference here to any exhaust system that was not OE and usually aftermarket.

I have just googled Bravo T-Jet Sports exhausts and the rear box looks the same fitment. As mentioned I bought a standard replacement for my car and it was identical.

Have a look to see if you have a Bravo system supplier to inspect one.

This seller is listing this one on ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Rear-Silencer-Muffler-LANCIA-DELTA-Mk-3-III-1-4-1-6-1-9-2-0-D-T-jet-Mjet/112772360492?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D53672%26meid%3Dced7ab42ac5c491dbcd786c0d51bdfc3%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D112133970345%26itm%3D112772360492&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

He also lists one for the Bravo and I am 99.9% sure its the same image.

Good spot Neil I notice they do this back box in two flavours, one with bumper cut out and one without...

Been doing some research and spoken with a local company that does ECU tunes on the dyno. His recommendation for the exhaust system was to start with downpipes and slowly work back.

I'm new to the world of modding, but understand all the technical jargon. Does downpipes sound like a good place to start or something else that should be looked at first?

Depends what you are after. I have never really considered the Delta 3 as a Sports/Performance car like the Mk.1 was so not thought about it much. An exhaust system / K&N Filter may give you a few more BHP and obviously a nicer sound however to really up the performance you would probably need to uprate the Turbo/Clutch and think about some kind of Intercooler. (.......then there's the obvious knock on effect of doing that and improving the brakes etc.)

My Delta is the first turbo performance vehicle I've owned. And I'm really building a love with the car (wifey is getting a bit jealous ;) )

I know it's not designed as a sports vehicle, but i'd still like to have a go at some improvements. I'm not looking to replicate supercar 0-60 times and certainly not going to be pounding around a track on weekends (Israel's choices of tracks are minimal and stupidly expensive too!), just looking for some extra fun on the roads with some more noise.
