Question

Can anyone help , We have a 2007 2.8CRD Chrysler voyager - 65k miles on the clock - Over the last month the diesel usage has shot up - Average of 15-17 MPG around town. No obvious leaks or issues with the drive and no errors of fault codes.

Can anyone suggest anything I can change or check that might cause this ? I thought maybe O2 sensor but apparently this model does not have one or am i wrong ? HELP

Karl

Does it smoke at all black smoke, if it is that would be unburnt diesel and personally i would check in the following order: intake system from air filter to turbo and further to intake, hoses tend to age develop cracks, the next port of call would be to check egr and intake throttle valve and last would be to get someone to read the maf sensor readings in regards to acceleration, as a incorect reading of the air sent to the engine would make the computer think it needs to put moore fuel in that needed. Bare in mind that a MAF sensor wont put a code up unless the ecu finds some very extreme readings.
