Potential Corrosion Issue

Question

Hi all, last night I was doing the timing belt on my wife's Delta and had cause to remove the right-hand front wing liner and was amazed at the build up of muck and crap in the area where the liner locates with the sill moulding, for anyone intending to keep their Delta for a while, it would be well worth your while to remove the wing liners and have a look behind them :-D

Good tip especially as most of these are circa 5 years old plus now!

How many fixings hold the liner on? I might have a look when it gets a bit warmer...

Mike, the liner is child's play to remove, jack up, axle stand under the car, remove the right-hand front wheel, 9 pozi-drive screws and off it falls !!!

Good to know!

I've stripped enough Alfa front ends and small fiat's before just not looked too closely at the Delta apart from re-branding and the odd failed part...

What loose?

How odd!? Do you think it got there whilst on the production line?

It happens!

Usually it's extra nuts or bolts :-D

There used to be a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily) plant in my hometown, when there was news of a workers new car making it's way through the build line, it got Ghia interior and 2.0 engine and the works.

If a management destined car was on it's way, it got bolts welded into chassis legs or sills !!!

Not sure but I noticed it was missing when I viewed the car and had a new one put on then. Gawd knows how it got there..................

I grew up near Browns Lane and it was often heard that employees' old Jags were retrofitted with new bits !

I grew up in Manchester where most cars get magnetised and driven through Halfrauds!
