Would Recommend Terraclean

Question

My engine light came up last week, diagnostics identified blocked injectors, local mechanic managed to turn off the light and said he gave the injectors a clean.

No symptoms with driving, engine never hesitates or 'shakes'. I wonder wheather a Terraclean would be a good idea, not only for the injectors, but to give the whole engine a carbon residue removal.

Mine is the M air 1.4 petrol

Do you guys believe Terraclean is worth the 100 quids.

Hi Dido, there's a lot controversy around companies like that, and actually whether it does anything at all. Just ask most mechanics what they think about the process and the claims these companies make?

Petrol engines generally stay pretty clean to be honest, It's the diesels that soot up the intake, Map sensor, EGR valve and DPF as it's a heavy oil that produces a lot of soot.

It could have just been some poo in the fuel to be fair. I use Wynn's injector cleaner, and add it to a tank of fuel. It usually cleans the system out pretty well. Try and stay away from super market fuel too, and stick with BP ultimate or Shell V power as they have additives in that keep everything clean too.

Snake oil . . I say (probably more Victor Meldrew than someone more settled)

The best thing for a city bound Italian car is the old 'Italian tune up'

Find a nice quiet twisty road and drive the guts out of it in 3rd gear for the spin . . Works every time !

Plus you get a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling

I just re read your post and you mentioned blocked injectors, well as MikeyRules said, it must be poop in the petrol

There's no fuel filter fitted to these cars, simply a strainer in the fuel tank, pre pump

And 4 little strainers fitted in the top of each injector

MotorMech in Birmingham is a Terraclean agent. I've heard nothing but postive's about anyone having the treatment.

Oh it's a money spinner alright...and I can understand how any garage would want a piece of that pie! It's like MOT's my mate makes around £700 a week just from that revenue alone, so think along those lines as a business and you can see the attraction!!

I think the problem is more around how much of the system is actually cleaned...i.e stated vs actual.
