2.4L Idling Fast / Whistling Noise

Question

Hi

A few days ago the engine light came on and the engine died momentarily.

It runs absolutely fine now and the engine linght no longer shows. In fact I had to do a 350mile journey yesterday and run beautifully... except:

  1. the engine now idles between 1,500 & 2,000
  2. There is a whistling noise that increases with revs.

Fuel consumption seemed OK but I turned the engine off when sitting in traffic.

I looked under the bonnet and could trace the noise (I think) to two small tubes (see picture). They are bare and clean so I am assuming they need something on them / something has fallen off?.

If i partially cover the holes the idle speed drops and if I block the engine dies. I assume there should be a valve similar to the one on the left>

This might be a red herring so please advise if I should be looking elsewhere.

Cheers

Philip

Thanks for the quick reply. I couldn't see any loose or missing hoses.

I can see yours has a blank and a connector but my engine seems a little different as there is another valve on top of the rocker cover near the two open pipes.

My Voyager is the2.4L version but year 2003 (January).
