Question

Hi guys, looking for some help.

My 2.5 desiel has developed a weird problem.

After a few miles she gives a cough, and soon after dies. I squirt some quick start into the airbox tube and she fires up again.

It may give me hassle or will go the whole day with out a repeat.

Please help I'm at my witts end

It's somwhere on the side where the oil filter is.

See picture in the link bellow. If I remember well, you can access it by removing the battery and the battery support otherwise from underneath.

Hmmm, I was reading this thread only yesterday thinking 'what a nightmare' then today, on the motorway (same engine: 2.5 diesel), I was overtaking at just over 75mph, going uphill, giving it maybe 2500-2800 rpm and the engine warning light came on, along with significant loss of power.

I put the clutch in immediately, the light went off, and power was available again.

I then drove 300 miles, going between 55 and 70mph, with no repeat of the episode (I didn't thrash it again though, lol).

I wonder if it's related to your problem?

Zo9 partly sounds crank sensor related but falls out when car happy to run ok some days. Somehow sounds like the old air in fuel problem and need to check fuel filter.

As to Shandy I've still got that problem and living with it. Thought to be Turbo Actuator not working or hose pipework to it blocked. Accessibility problem here.

Hi, there is a thread of mine with pipes blocked, I think I uploaded a picture too. I found that the stainless steel pipe that goes from the front of the engine to the back was glogged up with debris, only in that case, the oi was thrown out through the dipstick hole and the oil filling top camshaft hole as it wasn't circulated. That was only after 30-40 minutes with the engine running.

Hope it helps.

Mind that Turbo actuator works via pressure from a short pipe from boost outlet of Turbo. Actuators seem to only sell complete with the turbo itself and if anyone can get a new one without the turbo please inform on here. There is no reason why the short rubber hose can't block up as its in a dirty enviornment so check this first.
