Air Con

Question

Here's a weird one, last Sunday took my mum out for her weekly shop and in the untypical sweltering heat the Aircon decided not to work. Bizarrely after expecting to boil all week it's worked perfectly every day so far since ... How strange is that? Edited by Rossocorsa

I wonder if it has sensed a drop in voltage from the battery? Could your battery be on the way out or need a trickle charge overnight?

My Delta has a bit of a flat spot when setting off from stationary, and you have to rev a bit more otherwise it tries to stall, and at that exact moment the air-con switches off. If I catch it by dipping the clutch and then carry on the air-con resumes.

The loss of air conditioning, is due to the engine voltage dropping under 12v as the engine stalls and drops in revs, which kicks out the alternator pulley clutch until charging voltage resumes

As for the air conditioning not working for a period of time, the only thing that I can think of, would be an auxiliary belt losing tension
