Hi gordy thanks for reply mate. Not got a warning light on or limp mode ! Wasn't as bad to drive with caravan off I nipped out to shop yday in it and no smoke but isn't driving like It should I sink gas pedal and not a great deal of pick up speed but it does eventually gain speed. I'm struggling to find EGR valve is it a plastic bend coming off main air intake pipe with elecric plug on its side ? Also My air intake pipes are oily inside is this normal ? Thanks gordy any advise is much appreciated. I have a car for spares same year and model could I simply swap any parts over to make a quick diagnostic Thanks mate

EGR is at back of engine, need to remove wiper tray to get at it. Follow the stainless pipe from under inlet manifold at front of engine, it goes around back, battery side and joins to EGR. While you are there check operation of turbo waste-gate actuator to see its working, inclusive of rubber tube-work incase of blockage. Once you are learned the job come and do mine...

Finaly found egr valve and its a right job getting at it! Had to remove lots of stuff like wiper assembly, coolant bottle and three pipes one was a twat as jubilee clip was hard to reach cos of clutch oil bottle or something and well out of site the reach of fingers! But 2 and half hours later and a few grazes n swearwords I had the egr valve off ! It does seem ok I can push the plunger in and it springs back. It not full of soot either. But now I have to do it all again as I did a practice run on my spares voyager ! I hope the egr valve on my working voyager is stuffed then at least I can put this good one in and hope for a quick diy fix. If it not the egr valve causing the smoke and power loss wen towing you mentioned turbo actuator, I can just see the turbo from laying uner car but how the heckas do I get to it ! Also would any one have a picture of the thermostat in its place as I'm sure its right were the egr valve is but I cant make out were !! Thanks

Thermostat sticks out from rear of cylinder head on offside/right side. But inline Renault jobie available for this repair. EGR works by vacuum so suck on fitted hose to test it. Control valve for EGR on front of engine, follow small bore hoses from EGR to find it. Valve only costs about £27 so they say so might be goosed. (Think I'll order one myself). Turbo actuator is diaphragm in cylinder  operated and normally attached to Turbo unit. Suck or blow to test it.

Hi, only few days ago I finished rebuilding my engine (long story) and as I was putting the pipes and auxiliary parts back, I said I'll give them a good clean.

In the picture attached you will see a red circle, that whole section circled was full with black residue of oil and built up carbon. The circulation hole was thinner than a cigarette. I would inspect that, as I looked at my brother in law's GV and was more or less the same.

Not excluding the injectors though.

Hope it helped.
