Crankshaft Sensor

Question

I recently had an engine cutout - sadly my auto had hotlined as I overtook (only 50mph).

The AA took me home and the guy said "Crankshaft sensor" from his computer.

I bought one from a scrap yard (new one over £200!). It arrived with a nick in the wire.
The salesperson said "Try it and we'll replace it." So we did.

The fault wasn't cured so he sent a replacement. This hasn't fixed it. I've bought a reluctor wheel
in case. It's round and magnetic but some are toothed. Chrysler dealer says the part is correct.

Before we lift the engine has anyone any comments please?

didn't have the very same but had ours cut out at different intervals would restart after a couple of mins

my garage thought it was the cam sensor so that was done 1st but ended up as the crank sensor and that cured the problem

I did look on the net and a few others had similar problem

hope this is helpful
