Anybody Noticed A Limited Torque On Second Gear?

Question

Hi,

I need to share with you guys something I noticed on my 1.4 multiair manual gearbox.

The second gear gives you quite a limited time torque, so you constantly need to drop to first gear whenever you are on a slope or something. I had the clutch disc replaced and still this is remarkably irritating. Compared to other cars that I have driven that's noticeable.

I am aware of features like Linearisation Torque Feedback (LTF), Torque Transfer Control (TTC) and Drive Steering Torque (DST), all of which are supposed to enhance torque, could it be that these are gone faulty. I got my car second hand so I need to find out whether that's simply something with the short gearbox lanes or do I need to pursue things further.

Thanks

As per the other thread the 1.4 is built for low-down economy. With its gearing you will need to drop to 1st even at low speeds - i.e. pulling away when lights change before you've stopped etc.

It does not like to stay in 2nd at low rpm.
